第一部 伝わるスライドの原則

13:00 ~ 15:00 12:30より受付開始
講師:浦田悠 特任講師 全学教育推進機構 教育学習支援部
内容:
■ 研究内容がよく伝わるプレゼン資料を作成するための、スライドデザインの法則や役に立つ機能を紹介します。
■ 実例を通して、内容の可視化、見やすい図表の作成や、フォント・書体等の改善ポイントを紹介します。
■ スライドの改善点を見出すためのペアワークを行います。
■ 日本語・英語プレゼン両方に役立ちます。
■ 図表をよく使う理系だけではなく、スライドの作成が苦手という文系の方にもおすすめします。

第二部 英語プレゼンテーションのスキルアップ~ ESPからのヒント ~

15:30 ~ 17:00 第二部のみ参加の方は15:00より受付開始
講師:野口ジュディー津多江 教授 神戸学院大学
ハワイ大学(BS, BA 化学)、テンプル大学(MEd TESL)、バーミンガム大学(PhD 応用言語学)
神戸学院大学グローバル・コミュニケーション学部の教授、学部長。ESP(English for Specific Purposes、専門英語)の研究、教育、教材開発をし、高校生(スーパーサイエンス)、理系、薬学部生と理学、工学、薬学、医学の大学院生の教育に携わってきました。ESPの手法で日英翻訳も教えてきました。
内容:
■ 研究者としての情報発信の意味と重要性の説明からスタートして、プレゼンテーションスキルを磨くためのESP (English for Specific Purposes)の研究から生まれた技術を使うことまで説明します。
■ 国際学会の口頭発表とポスタープレゼンのポイント紹介もします。
■ 理系の例を中心とした内容ですが、文系の方にも参考になります。
■ 特にこれから国際学会等において研究成果を発信して行きたい若手研究者におすすめします。
■ 第二部は英語で行われますが、Q&Aでは日本語での質問も受け付けます。

Seminar on Slide Design & Polishing Presentation Skills

Date: July 8th, 2016 (Friday)
Venue: Multi-media Hall, Center of Medical Innovation and Translational Research, Suita Campus
Open to: Academic staff, administrative staff, and research fellows of Osaka University
Capacity: 80 for each part; can attend both or either of the 2 parts

Part 1 - Rules of Slide Design

13:00 ~ 15:00 Open 12:30
Speaker: Yu Urata, Specially Appointed Associate Professor, Department of Teaching and Learning Support, Center for Education in Liberal Arts and Sciences
Contents:
■ Rules of and tips for creating visually well-designed presentation slides
■ Examples on how to visualize your research contents, make easy-to-follow charts/graphs, choose appropriate fonts, and etc.
■ Pair discussion on points of improvement using real slides
■ The lecture will be delivered in Japanese. However, the contents will be useful for designing slides no matter in Japanese or English.
■ Researchers specialized in sciences as well in humanities and social sciences are both encouraged to attend this lecture.

Part 2 - Polishing Your Presentation Skills: Tips from ESP

15:30 ~ 17:00 Open 15:00 for those who are planning to attend Part 2 only
Speaker: Judy Noguchi, Professor, Kobe Gakuin University
BA and BS degrees in chemistry from the University of Hawaii; MEd in TESL from Temple University; PhD in applied linguistics from the University of Birmingham (UK).
Judy Noguchi is professor of English and Dean of the Faculty of Global Communication at Kobe Gakuin University. She specializes in teaching and developing materials for English for Specific Purposes and has taught English to students in pharmaceutical sciences, medicine, engineering and other science-related disciplines. She also uses ESP techniques to teach translation.
Contents:
■ This lecture will start with a brief background of the importance of presenting your research in the sciences and offer concepts and tools from research and practices in ESP (English for Specific Purposes) to help polish your presentation skills.
■ Both oral and poster presentations will be discussed.
■ Primarily targeted at early career scientists; will be useful for those from humanities and social sciences, too
■ Part 2 will be held in English. However, questions can be raised in Japanese in Q& A session.
